It started with James Bond Spectre, a much awaited film of 2015 was released. After I finished James Bond movie marathon, I found out that Daniel Craig also acted in the American/ English adaptation of the book “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”.
I heard about this book ever since I worked at MPH. The cover was boring and I didn't know anything about it. But I know a movie was made about it. A friend of mine mention to have read the book and was obsessed with it. It was long time ago. I was thinking if Daniel Craig can act from a book adaptation, the book must be a good one. That’s when I start reading it. My principle now is to read the book first then only watch the movie. First book "The Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" I intended to know how the story ends. Mikael Blomkvist was hired to investigate the disappearance of his nephew Ms Vanger. So I read on.
Then I got hooked.
Then I watch the American adaptation of the movie starring Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig directed by David Fincher. Then I compare with the Swedish version of the movie "Män som hatar kvinnor" which feature Swedish best actor and actress Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist. I like the Swedish version as it is more detailed closely to the book.
Second book "The Girl Who Played With Fire" was about Lisbeth running away from Mikeal Blomkvist after to have stolen millions of kronor from Wennestrom and in disguise as Irene Nesser. Now she is running away from police as it turns out Lisbeth fingerprints were found on the weapon used to murder a couple of book author /journalist who worked at Millennium. I was curios to know who killed the author couple. So I read on.
Then I watch the Swedish version of the movie adaptation. "Flickan som lekte med elden".
It really got me hooked.
Then continuingly I read on the third installment "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest". I was curios to know is Lisbeh Salander still alive after been shot 3 times. To me this third book is the best. Although she couldn’t do as much hacking as the first and second book but she got her Hackers United to help her out.
Then I watch the Swedish version of the movie adaptation "Luftslottet som sprängdes ". It wasn’t as detailed as the book probably because the storyline is so long to fit in a movie. In the movie version they didn’t tell that Erika Berger has changed job to work at SNP and is not the occasional lover of Mikael Blomkvist anymore as he have fell for Monika Figuerela.
The third book was regarded highly recommended by GoodReads. And was sold millions copies. It is a worldwide phenomenon. I also didn’t believe that I’ve finished a 500 plus pages in a book other than Twilight series.
What I like about reading it is how detail the story is told by the author who later died after finishing the third manuscript - Stieg Larsson. Having read various negative comments on Amazon does not make me not want to read it. So don't believe what critiques says about it. Read it and judge it for yourself. I read it to unfold the mysteries lies within this pages. I read it simply because I am learning ethical hacking this year it might be beneficial to know a thing or two behind every hacker's intuition.
I’m reading the fourth book now "The Girl in the Spider's Web". It is rumoured to be remake and reboot into film adaptation again for the fourth book. And Alicia Vikander is rumoured to be Lisbeth Salander succeeding Rooney Mara from the American adaptation.
So if you haven’t already read these books I suggest you should try read one too.
